I had no real interest whatsoever in cooking, grocery shopping, etc. in my childhood and most of my early adult years. I've only really gotten interested in cooking since maybe 2005. I learn by watching certain food shows, and reading from lots of cookbooks, and from practice. I have many, many cookbooks, and could never commit to cooking all the recipes in one book, but I do want to explore the books that I have and find new and interesting/exciting things to try.
I generally try to cook reasonably healthfully, but I am not afraid of butter or cream, either. I am not a vegetarian, but I do like to explore vegetarian recipes and have several of those up my sleeve for friends and family who are. On that note, I am always trying to branch out and try new veggies and new veggie recipes.
I am really doing this blog for a couple of reasons: 1) to track my progress in the kitchen as I learn and try new things, and 2) to participate in The Daring Kitchen, which looks like it will be fun and challenging. If anyone wants to tag along for the ride, be my guest! I’d love to have more foodie friends!
